Staff Meeting 3/1/20

  • Opening remarks
    • Spring break is right around the corner for Wes students.
    • It’s a good time to take stock and acknowledge how quickly the academic year (and Spring season at WESU) will conclude, following break.
    • In April it will be time for our Spring Pledge Drive and Board Elections will happen just two meetings from now, in May!
  • Antenna

    • New Tower has arrived – Craned and engineer have been booked.
    • Work should happen (weather pending) March 9-13th.

    • It’s really important that we follow the WESU best practices to prevent issues and sound good on air!
    • Arrive 15 before show
    • let DJ know you are there in nonintrusive way (through window or open door) when convenient.
    • Do not enter the studio until 5 min before your show.
    • Do Not enter the studio during a voice break.
    • Do not end your show on a voice break.
    • DJ’s in studio should gather their music and belongings to provide for a quick transition and vacate the studio ASAP.
    • Special needs should be clearly communicated and worked out – not assumed.
    • Get to know the DJs with shows adjacent to yours. Exchange contact info to help with coverage and communication.
    • Feel free to use the pull down curtain in the air studio for privacy between studio A and B.
    • The studios and halls are not soundproof. Sound Travels. Be aware of others in the station and do your best to avoid interrupting the needs of others.
    • DO YOUR BEST TO KEEP IT QUIET WHEN OTHERS ARE AROUND, NO MATTER WHICH STUDIO, LIBRARY, OR HALLWAY YOU ARE IN.
    • Here are a few good examples of why you would need to communicate with your fellow DJ….
      • “Hey – I’m running late can you stick around?
      • “Is there any chance you can cover my sow this week?”
      • “my show is prerecorded and automated this week can you please bring the automation pot up on time so it can air?”

    • It’s in everyone’s best interest to have a contested election.
