Board Meeting 9/15/20

  1. Budget
    1. Lulu is going to fiance training, Ben and Lulu will have a budget meeting, and then Lulu will present to the SBC.
    2. Ben expresses the budget comes in pretty late. Get it in sooner than later. Who knows what groups are asking for what.
    3. Spring Pledge Drive. Recruiting students. Put a number on how many students have returned to the airwaves. How many students are planning on training. Still ready to provide experience.
    4. Some Latirsha Morris, the Latin hour — all these programs that couldn’t go over the summer are now coming back. An Italian DJ. A bunch of great stories to illustrate to the SBS.
    5. How amazing our public affairs are. Keeping people awake during the pandemic. Daily shows — democracy now. NPR daily programs. Our public affairs are educating the heck out of people leading up to election. Towards the E2020 initiative. We haven’t pursued it directly for funding, very confident that we are in alignment with that. Also with the anti-racism work that has been outlined and mapped out by the university — their long term objectives. A lot that is a part of the narrative. If they don’t have a relationship with us, they can’t hear this stuff.
  2. Fall Program
    1. So far so good.
    2. Rebroadcast of reasonably catholic. But we fixed it quickly.
    3. Tonight is a big move of Jack C and Jimmy Z building right up to What the Funk. Isn’t life strange is actually on. People promoting it.
  3. Production – Google Drive
    1. Need a system, new promos should go through one person who can ensure they meet minimum production standards (Luke?) and manage promo/psa/ID content.  (Ben M can upload station content, now that we have this – (thanks Leith!).
    2. Basic production director things.
    3. Set up a folder system of people for the promos. Good link to share via our staff list.
  4. Staff Meeting
    1. Discuss how to attach an account. Amy set up the zoom webinar, take it from Leith.
  5. Open up the station?
    1. For people to pick up music. Use it individually at least.
    2. Make a proposal. Request access? Make a google calendar?
    3. Director of environmental services — we gotta reach out.
    4. For community volunteers — we might have to get them signed on for COVID testing? Figure out some creative solution.

RICK ENTERS THE SCENE!

  1. Paid position?
    1. We might need to create a paid position for someone to open up files and check the levels to see if it works.
  2. Election 20-21
    1. Leith looked at online applications for voting. Leith says there is nothing in a constitution that has to be annoymous, but normally they are. Should we pursue the election thing a little further. If it is worth it?
    2. Ben we are hoping that we can present a slate of positions that one person hopefully wants to fill each position. If there are folks competing for positions, they have to keep up a voting system in place.
    3. If it’s a full slate, if it’s not a terribly contested election.
    4. Leave the emails on the website — cut the names until after the election.
      1. meet by appointment
  3. Follow up update:
    1. Basics about election, staff meeting, and thorough review of the production.
