WESU Spring Season 2023

Springtime is just around the corner, but the WESU spring season begins now! On January 30th, the station started airing the new spring schedule with shows from over 100 student and community volunteer DJ’s broadcasting over 90 hours of original freeform content based locally in Middletown, CT. These shows are backed by public affairs content from Pacifica, NPR, and independent sources.

The spring season welcomes 11 new DJ’s to the WESU program to keep it fresh! Longstanding shows like The Rumpus Room with Lord Lewis (celebrating 20 years in 2023), Saturday morning’s Moondog Matinee, and Sunday’s Gospel program continue in their regular times along with dozens of other WESU staples. The stations’ long running Psychedelicatessen show continues with a revolving cast of DJ’s on Sunday nights at 9pm.

The station is also excited about the return of Stephan Allison to the Thursday afternoon lineup as a guest host of River Valley Rhythms! Allison will be on the air on the 5th Thursday of the week. Host Richard Kamins will be on air on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays. This long-standing arts program now alternates weekly with Hoot and Holler, hosted by long-time CT radio personality Ed Mckeon. Mckeon has recently returned to the WESU lineup to produce a program spotlighting authors and musicians.

WESU is a community radio station that operates as a community service. The station relies on listener support to operate and continue providing its unique content. A huge thanks to all that helped the station reach their goal during the WESU Fall Pledge Drive! Stay tuned for information about the upcoming Spring Pledge Drive.
