Board Meeting 11/18/19

  • Record fair
    • Most profitable record fair ever!!!
    • PR was good, but we can do better…
      • We didn’t utilize any of the blogs (i.e. Wesleying, Aural Wes)
      • We can still do a better job of getting students to the record fair
  • Remaining 80th events of the season
    • JKK: really need to reach out to the relevant academic departments and the blogs
      • Exec crew will follow up with Amy 
    • 12/8 Free Form Jubilee
      • Ben M is working on PR along with pledge drive packet stuff
      • Canned food drive? 
        • We can tell donors: your admission to this event is your donation to the pledge drive and to Amazing Grace Food Pantry
        • Can also be a Toy Drive, or something for Seniors
        • Should we require all event attendees to donate? Including students?
          • Goal is to support the station AND make the event a bit more exclusive
          • For this event, we’re not looking to fill seats like for our lecture series – we shouldn’t have to pull teeth to end up with a full house
          • People who should come should be hardcore supporters of the station
          • Staff can bring a guest gratis
          • Make sure to tag caveat that nobody will be turned away
          • Re: canned food – we can have pre-bought cans, so that for those who have forgotten to bring a can, they can just buy one on the spot
      • Goal is 120 people in attendance (maybe ~ 70 staff plus guests)
      • Still need to scope out the venue
      • Talent locked down, except hypnotist is on the fence due to health issues, but Ben has enlisted Louise Murray as replacement
      • Ben M hopes to hammer down PR, lineup, etc. tomorrow
  • [Board has retired for executive session to discuss an ongoing personnel matter]
  • Pledge drive
    • Has already started
    • Ben needs to update online and print pledge forms to include knit cap, T-shirt options (white, metallic silver, gold??)
    • Will go on until the end of December
  • Other updates
    • Personnel
      • Written test at 6 – 7:30 in PAC 002 pm on Thursday; if they can’t, then they should contact board members so they can take during board hours on Friday
      • Victoria will grade over the weekend; other board members should help and we can have a grading party 
      • Test itself is very similar to last year except:
        • Taking out “call Program Director” in case of DJ no-shows, and other little things like that
      • Practicals will be week after Thanksgiving break, there will be a spreadsheet for board members to sign up and help proctor
    • MDs
      • Everyone take a look at the newsletter; they updated it to incorporate Ben M’s suggested changes
      • If everyone approves, will send it out to the staff tomorrow or Wednesday
