Staff Meeting 10/6/19

  1. Open 10-6-19 WESU All Staff Meeting
  2. Board updates:
    1. Public Affairs: Cormac is working on the public affairs standard
    2. Tech: If anyone needs a Spinitron/StreamRewind account, let Leith know!
    3. MD’s: if you’re interested in writing for the MD blog, reach out to Sam or Gina/come into their board hours on Monday’s 4-5 or 6-7!
    4. Personnel: Training has started! Thanks to everyone who has responded about hosting trainees for internships, and for anyone who has not yet but wants to, reach out to Victoria and fill out the form to indicate your willingness! Also if you have any ideas for training let her know too
    5. Program: Program guide is at the printers – you will see physical copies in the station very soon! We’re trying to spread them around campus/around the community! Also, we’re still having some issues with people reaching out via email to ask for coverage last minute – reach out to Ben instead of doing that! He can help way more effectively! Also we have become aware that some DJ’s are leaving their shows early and turning on automation – this is not ok!!!
    6. Public Relations: we have a lot of events to wrap up 80th anniversary! Ways people can help promoting the events (i.e. Oldies Show, Banning Eyre, Fall Record Fair, Prof. Kehaulani Kauanui) by making and playing promos, and sharing events via Facebook/social media! All staff can help promote these events!
    7. VP: Working on getting budget finalized
    8. President: Want to emphasize the code of conduct; if anyone is experiencing any issues, please come talk to the board
    9. Events: We have a lot of events coming up, which Amy mentioned! Also the Bobbito event in September was great – thanks to everyone who helped and came out!
    10. Community Liaison: Jen has been going to record fairs and promoting our record fair. For any DJ’s who are comfortable using vinyl or want to learn, reach out to Jen to potentially fill hour-long slots during our record fair; we want an eclectic mix of stuff! Must be vinyl though (Jen can teach for those who are not familiar with it)
    11. Production: if anyone has any questions about using Adobe/other software, come to Luke’s board hours. If you don’t have a show promo, it is mandatory! Come to Luke’s board hours to learn if you don’t know how yet. In addition show promos, we need record fair promos too (you can get a service hour for it). Also, Luke is in the process of putting together an oral history of WESU – if anyone has any interesting archives/recordings and wants to be interviewed, reach out to Luke
  3. Studio tech updates
    1. PHONE COUPLER REMINDER – IF YOU USE ITM TURN IT OFF!
    2. Studio B
      1. New Studio Monitors – Please do not blow them out by playing music too loud!
      2. New mixer installed! (Thanks for patience while we work the details and learned functions)
        1. Has been labeled accordingly & Like studio A mixer, there is a small silver dot next to each of the buttons that should be on for default settings. (Basically assign b for all pots and selectors)
      3. For connecting studio B (to air to studio) – the default buttons/setting should work! (Just keep levels low in studio B to avoid feedback!)
      4. For recording – the default – the default buttons/setting should work!
      5. For using the phone coupler – the default buttons/setting should work! Must use Mic 2.
    3.  Studio C
      1.  New mixer installed! Same as old mixer, just newer version. Functionality is the same.
    4. INTERNET / NETWORKING
      1. Still Working with UNIVERSITY ITS to get update and replace our internet hardware and install a network device that will put us on the university network so we can once again utilize current versions of Microsoft and adobe programs at WESU. Wesleyan users will also gain access to their personal WES related online resources.
    5. Also working on getting a new touch screen monitor for the hall studio reservation system.
    6. In Operating logs, notice the Icecast / internet stream check box!   This is to monitor the internet stream and keep loose track of how many folks are listening online.  One of the default tabs in the browser is icecast. If you refresh that page, and look for current listeners to see how many folks are listening online. Please jot down the number of current listeners. THANKS!
