ALL-STAFF NOTES 4/11/2010
station day - great success!
thanks to everyone who came
you'll notice how clean and shiny the station is
Transmitter update from ben (who can't attend today)
work resuming tomorrow
unclear how long the increase is going to take
we need to gradually increase our broadcasting power according to FCC regulations
upgrade still dependent on weather, though
the end of the spring program is soon!
an update from max lavine:
end of programming on May 9th
summer program on May 10th
summer program applications due on April 30th
fall season applications due on may 15th
fall season details TBD by the next elected program director
Spring = board elections (next meeting)
volunteers interested in running for the board need to post a letter of intent in the station
can be super brief, just your name, explain who you are, etc.
or do whatever you want. have fun!
letters have to be posted one week before next all-staff meeting
mary: "being on the board is a great way to help the station"
Board positions, from the board members themselves:
For all positions:
Board Meetings and Board Hours a requirement
Board Meetings - once a week, about an hour and a half
Various administrative tasks, making decisions about the station
Day-to-Day
Weekly, also open to the public
Anyone who wants to run should come by a meeting
President (student only):
Lots of coordinating with Ben Michael
Meeting facilitation
Opportunities for special projects - Noah Hutton's history, Mary working on website
Public Affairs Director: managing public affairs, managing a lot of outside content
helping facilitate in-house PA programming
hopefully PA will continue in helping with that
Events Coordinator (student only):
organizing all WESU events
concerts, record fair, etc.
a lot of responsibility, a lot of power, but a lot of fun
Program Director:
Coordinate and assemble program schedule every season
Accounting for breaks and transitions
Keeping track of subs and pre-recorded shows, etc.
A lot of work, but in bursts at the beginning of seasons
Vice President (student only):
Budget managing (SBC coordinating)
Note-taking
Various organizational duties
Back up facilitator for Pres.
Personnel:
Managing staff, who is in good-standing, etc.
Running training
Noting absences, etc.
PR Director:
Program guides
Social media work - facebook, myspace, etc.
Posters, WESU event PSAs
Coordinating with WESU alumni
Production Director:
Recording PSAs, announcements, various things
Music Directors (two positions, one for students):
Listen to a ton of music, pass judgment
Talk to promoters
Chart plays at the station
Keeping track of music library
A LOT of work, but sooooo much music
Next Sunday = Our Annual Record Fair

This is going to be great

Not just a record fair - raffles, DJs, food
We reallllly need volunteers
Betty sent out an email, seems to have been caught by most people's spam filters
If people would like to volunteer, especially to work WESU's fund-raising table:

Restaurant gift certificates, CDs, LPs, WHATEVER
There are still some tables available - 25 bucks for WESU staff
Sell whatever, not just records
We did pretty good last year - something like a thousand dollars!
We can do better - bring yr stuff in to the station
There's also a PSA - please pump this jam!
Studio A Hard Drive + a CD
Caroline has posters, will send the image to the staff list
Please put these up!
We are ALSO looking for DJs!

Some reports of these emails not getting through - please check yr filters

Marc: we hosted some cub scouts on Tuesday
